The Cooperative Extension Service (CES) is central to carrying out the NMSU land-grant mission of delivering research-based information and practices to the diverse population of New Mexico. Position Summary

The successful candidate will:
• Provide statewide leadership in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating programs in family life education.
• Provide educational resource materials for county Extension personnel – including publications, news releases, and electronic delivery including social media.
• Provide program support for adult and youth programs, including 4H.
• Conduct subject matter training for Extension faculty, program coordinators and volunteer leaders.
• Maintain liaison with other agencies and groups with interest in families and children, and relationship development.
• Travel extensively within state and out-of-state as necessary.
• Administratively responsible to the Extension Family & Consumer Sciences Department Head.

Required Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. with at least one degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Family Relations/Family Studies, Child Development, Gerontology, Human Development or closely related field.
• Ability to provide leadership and coordination with county agents in planning, organizing, directing and evaluating educational programs related to family life.
• Ability to maintain positive relationships, to use oral and written communication skillfully; to work with people from varied ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. (NM has large Hispanic and Native American populations.)
• Ability to interpret family life research findings and communicate to Extension faculty and staff and lay audiences.
• Ability to solicit and manage grants.
• Ability to adapt to changing and wide-ranging technologies.

Preferred Qualifications (optional)

• Basic understanding of the Cooperative Extension Service with Extension experience preferred.

Special Requirements of the Position

Located in Las Cruces, New Mexico at
New Mexico State University.
Statewide responsibilities; may work evenings, weekends. Personal auto required.
Travel reimbursed at current IRS rate per mile.
Valid driver’s license required.
