General Information of Campus and Unit

The CEP Department is housed in the College of Education and is comprised of innovative graduate and undergraduate programs. Graduate programs within the department include an APA-accredited Ph.D. program in Counseling Psychology, a NASP-approved School Psychology Ed.S. program, CACREP-accredited MA program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a post-doctoral APA Designated training program for Prescribing Psychologists, and graduate minors in Spanish Counseling and Integrated Behavioral Healthcare. The department also offers an undergraduate minor and major in Counseling and Community Psychology. We seek to employ a faculty member who is a culturally-competent educator, researcher, and trainer.

Position Summary

Teach graduate and undergraduate courses. Responsibilities also include the supervision of graduate student practica and field experiences (i.e., in school and other mental health settings), research and teaching. Candidates will conduct research that contributes to NMSU/CEP research foci and obtain external funding in these areas as well as provide academic leadership in a new Ph.D. School Psychology Program.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in School Psychology in hand by the time of the start date. Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in New Mexico. Graduation from an APA-accredited program and completion of an APA-accredited internship are both required for applicants. Applicants should provide evidence of an active research program that includes a strong focus on diversity, social justice, underserved populations, and mental health disparities that can enrich scholarship in these areas. New professionals should include a statement that details their vision for the development of an active research program.

Preferred Qualifications (optional)

We are seeking a candidate at the associate professor or full professor rank who is an experienced Training Director knowledgeable about and experienced with APA accreditation processes. We are committed to attracting candidates with a demonstrated interest in cultural and personal diversity as it relates to the practice of school psychology. Candidates should have demonstrated success in working with culturally diverse populations and effective collaboration across distinct academic program areas. The candidate’s teaching, scholarship and service should enhance the department’s areas of strength. Further, we are seeking candidates with demonstrated professional involvement in NASP or APA.
