Job Duties and Responsibilities

Track placement and/or employment of DACC graduates. Provide job placement and career counseling services to students and alumni. Administer career assessment and career exploration services. Provide workforce readiness workshops on a broad range of related topics including “soft skills,” and provide workforce readiness assessments utilizing Work Keys, Pro Train, Prove IT, etc. Collaborate on an ongoing marketing/recruitment campaign/system to attract people to the DACC Workforce Center in order to receive related services. Collaborate with NM Workforce Solutions, Help NM, DVR, and other entities to provide employment/placement services. Regularly attend DACC CTE department advisory committee meetings. Network with local industry and employers. Support an extensive experiential learning program for DACC students. Coordinate an employment tracking program of DACC students and graduates. Collaborate with DACC academic programs to be the conduit between students and industry.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Required Experience

Five (5) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.

Classification Summary

Manages the operation of a student placement office of a large community college. Provides job placement and counseling services to students and alumni. May also be responsible for placement of students in part-time jobs or jobs outside the institution.

Classification Standard Duties

Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement. Develops and manages annual budgets for the organization and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses. Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives; oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of unit staff. Collaborates with academic administrators to identify, define, and meet student career planning and placement needs, goals and objectives. Develops marketing strategies and resources to identify and attract students and potential employers. Establishes and maintains databases to support and deliver services and resources to the university, employers, and students. Represents the University to various institutional divisions as well as externally to governmental agencies, vendors, students and their parents, and/or the general public.Recommends and participates in the development of University policies and procedures; may serve on University planning and policy-making committees. Plans, develops, and implements strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the organization. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.
