Position Summary

The Klipsch School of Electrical & Computer Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the broad area of cybersecurity (including, but not limited to, hardware cybersecurity). Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. by the time of their appointment (Spring or Fall 2018), and have a strong commitment to both research and teaching. Research strengths include: renewable energy integration and smartgrid, communications & sensors, data science, artificial intelligence, systems & software, IoT, and photonics. The Klipsch School has BS/MS/PhD degree programs, and a vibrant research environment. NMSU has a strong interest in an undergraduate curriculum that meets the NSA cyber-defense requirements. This effort, along with the presence of New Mexico’s two national laboratories and both federal and industrial research organizations, present an opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to a strong cybersecurity program.

The faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses and laboratories, preferably in the computer engineering and related areas, including distance education programs and short courses where appropriate; developing new courses and instructional laboratories; developing and advising Cornerstone and Capstone classes; mentoring undergraduate students; participating in accreditation related activities; participating in recruitment and retention activities; advising and development of student clubs; developing and maintaining an internationally recognized research program; attracting external research funding; and disseminating research results in leading journals and conferences; advising MS and PhD students; providing service to the University community through committee work; providing service in professional societies; and providing service to the community at large.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or closely related area.

Preferred Qualifications (optional)

teaching and research interests or experience in Cybersecurity and related areas.
